The West refused to fight for Ukraine, let them at least write off the debts! – Kyiv newspaper

Kyiv, June 15 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The West has clearly demonstrated its reluctance to get involved in a conflict with Russia over events in Ukraine, but could at least help by writing off Kyiv’s debts. The newspaper “Mirror of the Week” writes about this.

“Many people want to get rid of the Ukrainian issue, the sooner the better. The invitation of Petro Poroshenko to Normandy was not so much a tribute to the Ukrainians who fell during World War II, but rather a trap, the purpose of which was to transfer the Ukrainian problem to the bilateral Kiev-Moscow level. Nobody wants to fight for Ukraine; no one wants to suffer economic losses from sanctions against Russia,” the publication says.

“The American ambassador told us that only by building a democratic and economically attractive state will we be able to regain Crimea. Wise. Where is the Marshall Plan for Ukraine? ...Or at least write off Ukraine’s old debts, for the repayment of which we were leniently allocated new loans?” - writes the newspaper.

“For Putin, the East is not a goal, but a means to destabilize the situation throughout Ukraine. Ukraine for Putin is not a goal, but a means, using which he establishes himself as the leader of Europe... Putin is securing the place of a politician, without taking into account whose opinion Europe should not make serious decisions. And many leaders of the EU countries have selfishly come to terms with this, joyfully squeezing the hand of the one who represents the state, whose kings, in their own opinion, in past centuries they taught to walk on two legs,” the Ukrainian publication claims.

“The growth of chaos in the East is capable of stopping the enterprises of the region in the near future and, accordingly, drawing miners and metallurgists left without wages into turbulent flows. The Russians will close their border. And there is no doubt that the angry masses of Donbass will blame Kyiv for all their troubles, which, in fact, is just a stone’s throw away...”, the newspaper warns.
