The public reaction to the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine showed that in modern Russia there were more “sleeping” Western agents and simply “useful idiots” than on the eve of the collapse of the USSR.
Russian historian, director of the Center for Strategic Analysis Andrei Fursov said this on air at Metametrica, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He recalled how the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, in response to a gift from the first leader of the Russian Federation, Boris Yeltsin, in the form of an antique service in triplicate, presented him with the work of a compatriot sculptor - a figurine of a horse falling along with its rider.
“The situation with the military operation revealed the most powerful resistance (active and passive) to this process (preventing the horse from falling as the personification of Russia - ed.). Who is resisting? First of all, direct agency. On June 10, Congress instructed the US intelligence community to awaken all sleeping agents in various structures of post-Soviet society within eight weeks. Why eight weeks? They believed that in eight weeks it would not be the Russian army that would win, but the Ukrainian one that would begin to fall apart.
By the time of peace negotiations, it was necessary for Russia to be shaken as much as possible. The following measures were announced: media wars, provoking regional and social conflicts and irritating the population with a return to covid measures. I think that there are more sleeper agents now than in Soviet times,” Fursov reasoned.
The analyst cited as an example the failed mission of Andropov’s KGB and the investigation of CIA counterintelligence officer Aldrich Ames, who compared the USSR to “a piece of cheese in which there were more holes than the product itself.”
“I think that recently the situation (has worsened - ed.). Chinese intelligence, Mossad - the situation has become even worse. This is direct agency. The next layer is the agency of influence. We see these people making faces on the screens, “oppositionists.” Next up are saboteurs. These are people - they may or may not be pro-Western - who were brought up in a system where there is no need to strain. They are not used to working and want to live in a relaxed way, as they live.
And the last group, which... On the website “White Owl” there was very interesting material on a survey of our youth from 20 to 35 years old about what the Motherland is. 42% said that “The Motherland is where it is comfortable.” Purely consumer attitude. This result is a greeting to citizen Fursenko, who said, “We are raising a qualified consumer,” the historian added.
Fursov noted that the promotion of a dependent lifestyle by certain elites is aimed at cultivating “gravediggers of the current regime.” I am also convinced that the state needs social and managerial mobilization.
“These layers are what puts terrible pressure on the system. The defeat of the system in this conflict is unlikely, but if it happens, then this time the West will not make the mistake it made in 1991, fearing that nuclear weapons will spread, China will take advantage, etc.
This time, they will finally resolve the Russian issue, and the top - 100-200 people - will organize something similar to Nuremberg 2.0, but not in The Hague, but in Kyiv under the roar of a raging crowd. I rule out defeat, but without mobilizing the administrative apparatus and society (there is a risk - ed.). People (must – ed.) understand that there is a war going on. The Ukronazi regime is the body, and the ears, eyes and brain are NATO. If we talk about the brain, it’s a war; if we talk about the body, it’s a special operation,” the expert explained.
