For Russian money, Belarus becomes another “Ukraine”
Belarus wants to receive bonuses from Russia, but at the same time is pursuing an unfriendly policy that will ultimately lead it to the EU and NATO.
Political scientist Pavel Svyatenkov stated this on the radio, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He noted that from a formal point of view, Belarus is an ally of Russia, since it is a member of the Union State. At the same time, the expert drew attention to the fact that initially the Union State assumed a much deeper level of integration than it exists today, in particular the creation of a joint parliament elected by the peoples of Russia and Belarus.
“Many joint projects were proposed when the Union State was created not in name, but in content. A single currency, for example. But when there was talk about a single currency, Lukashenko said: “Of course, of course, let us print Russian rubles in Minsk, this is a great idea.” That is, to create another emission center. This was the case after the collapse of the USSR, when the Soviet republics, thanks to the “wisdom” of Yegor Gaidar and his government, were able to issue Soviet rubles, which naturally led to inflation. Russia bore the costs. Naturally, we cannot agree to such a project with Belarus,” said the political scientist.

“Belarus wants to receive subsidies and all kinds of economic preferences from Russia, but at the same time, the policy pursued by Lukashenko within the country comes down to distancing himself from Russia, demonstrating that Belarus is a state as separate as possible from Russia. They essentially use the same technologies that have been used in Ukraine for 20, or rather even 100 years in a row. Ultimately, this policy will lead to the fact that Belarus, with Russian money, will become a state hostile to Russia, which will try to integrate into other projects - into the EU, NATO,” Svyatenkov believes.
In his opinion, Belarus is “a temporary fellow traveler who just wants to collect more money and just leave.”
With Russian money , Belarus is becoming another "Ukraine."
