Simferopol, March 13 (Navigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – President of the Republic of Crimea Yuri Meshkov considers what is happening in Crimea as “liberation from Ukrainian occupation” and welcomes it.

The politician stated this at a press conference in Simferopol.
In addition, he announced his intention to participate in the Crimean referendum on joining Russia on March 16.
“Crimea is returning home as an integral part of great Russia. I will vote in the Crimean referendum as an ordinary citizen of the Republic of Crimea. If any formalities arise with the documents, I think the Supreme Council will help me resolve them,” noted Yuri Meshkov.
At the same time, the politician’s associates consider him the legitimate president of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 6, 1992, Yuri Meshkov was elected President of the Republic of Crimea on January 30, 1994. After this, there was no transfer of power in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the newly elected president. Meshkov could lose power only as a result of voluntary resignation, death or impeachment. There was neither the first, nor the second, nor the third. Therefore, after the referendum, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yuri Meshkov must begin to fulfill his duties,” its coordinator Valery Podyachiy read out a statement by the Popular Front “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” at a press conference.
