Yatsenyuk boasted that he had deceived Putin around his finger

Thanks to the discount on Russian gas that Kyiv received last winter through the mediation of the EU, Ukraine successfully survived the winter and waited for the price of fuel from the Russian Federation to fall.

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated this while speaking to deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.

“We managed to survive the winter and not pay $500 for gas to the Russians. Otherwise we pay, and then they use our money to buy tanks, planes, missiles and fight with Ukraine,” he said.

Yatsenyuk said that last year Ukraine purchased 70% of gas from the EU thanks to reverse and only 30% from Russia.

“We actually managed to achieve that the price of Russian gas is already below $250. I understand that the Russian Federation wants to set traps for us so that we refuse European gas, and then at the most difficult moment say - buy at the price we say. But we will not repeat the mistakes of past years,” Yatsenyuk assured, clarifying that Kyiv will purchase 50% of fuel from the EU, and another 50% from the Russian Federation.
