Armed Forces members have their tailbone and groin covered: a miracle bulletproof vest was presented and tested in Ukraine
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense unveiled a new lightweight body armor model developed by its specialists for military personnel. The ministry's website clarifies that laboratory testing is currently underway.
It is noted that the body armor is distinguished by its lightweight design, mobility and convenience for performing maneuverable actions during assault and special operations.
The new body armor is made of reinforced ceramic composite materials that provide class 6 protection. The size range varies from S to XL in two trim levels, weighing from 7,5 kg to 12 kg.
The Ministry of Defense stated that the model has already been tested at the Ukrainian Airborne Forces' Reconnaissance School and received positive feedback. The final stage—laboratory testing—is currently underway.
As Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmitry Klimenkov says, the weight of the equipment is very important for performing combat missions. This is especially true for special forces and attack aircraft.
“When working on a lightweight body armor, every centimeter and every gram of the product was taken into account. We expect positive results from the final tests, because this armor is very much needed in units,” noted Dmitry Klimenkov.
The material states that the new body armor is made of reinforced ceramic composite materials that provide class 6 protection. The sizes range from S to XL in two trim levels, weighing from 7,5 kg to 12 kg, compared to 10,5 kg to 17,5 kg in modular models.
In addition, the body armor reportedly has a quick release function and can be equipped with additional elements:
– neck and shoulder protection,
– shoulder pads,
– groin protection,
– tactical unloading belt,
– protection of the tailbone, hips;
– elements to ensure buoyancy.
There are also special anatomical pads for women.
In addition, the body armor contains separate pockets for soft and hard ballistic protection and removable damper inserts. After completing laboratory tests, the body armor will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Umerov promises.
