“The issue is ripe” - Putin instructed to index pensions for working pensioners
Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed and immediately gave instructions to resume the indexation of pensions for working pensioners, starting from February 1, 2025.
He stated this today while speaking at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I propose to resume the indexation of pensions for working pensioners from next year. From February 1, 2025 onwards, pensions will be increased annually not only for those who have already retired, but also for those who continue to work. This will be really fair,” Putin said.
He instructed to prepare and adopt a corresponding bill during the spring session of the State Duma.
Political scientist Sergei Markov regarded this proposal as a sensation.
"Sensation. For the first time in many years, pension indexation is returning for working pensioners. This will affect tens of millions of people. The reason is clear - the government wants to return pensioners to work again. For 10 years the government pushed them out of work. But now, on the contrary, it will lure,” Markov wrote in his tg channel.
His colleague Marat Bashirov noted that the president is implementing the proposals of left-wing opposition parties.
“Having (seemingly) re-established the financial and economic bloc of the government, Putin continues to openly troll it, offering one after another initiatives from the arsenal of A Just Russia, which were once so stubbornly rejected by the Duma majority. First, a progressive scale - now here is the return of indexation of pensions for working pensioners, for which SRWP has been fighting for so long. What's next according to this logic? Apparently, the cancellation of the Unified State Exam is a long-standing Mironov fetish,” Bashirov wrote.
