The authorities of Sevastopol were accused of disrupting the holiday season in Balaklava
Last week, about a thousand tourists could not get out of the picturesque but remote beaches of Balaklava (a resort town in Sevastopol): “Blizhny”, “Zolotoy”, “Yashmovy” and “Vasili”.
The situation arose due to the fact that the owners of small vessels refused to leave the sea, and state passenger boats could not cope with the load. The Ministry of Emergency Situations had to intervene in the situation.
The boatmen went on strike in protest against the amount of rent for places on the pier, which the Sevastopol Regional Military-Hunting Society suddenly set for them at the height of the tourist season.
The military hunters themselves also rent the pier to the state management company “Center for the Effective Use of City Property” for 130 thousand rubles per month. From 276 owners of small boats, tenants are demanding a fee of 450 rubles per square meter. As the boatmen calculated, this will bring profit to military hunters of 2 million rubles per month.
New rules arose unexpectedly just before the influx of tourists. 38 captains lost their nerve and, in order not to lose profits, they entered into agreements with the hunting society, but the rest of the sailors followed the principle.
The Sevastopol Public Chamber had to intervene in the situation. The parties are expected to reach an agreement by August 7. Until then, the transport of tourists to the beaches is limited.
The government of Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov does not comment on the conflict, although Balaklava boatmen came to the city center and expected to meet with officials. This indirectly proves that the emergence of a “military-hunting” connection between sailors and city property was a common part of the scheme, which would be a good idea for the prosecutor’s office to study.
