Eyewitness video: Russian Railways locomotive drags Ukrainian armored vehicles
Eyewitnesses in Kyiv captured video of a Russian Railways locomotive pulling a train carrying Ukrainian armored vehicles toward the eastern border. Andrey Selezov, a former Kyiv resident who fled his hometown after the coup, recounts this in his blog .
“Taken yesterday, or the other day, in Kyiv at the Darnitsa marshalling station, in the departure park towards Konotop. A Russian locomotive VL80 from the Bryansk II depot, in the characteristic bright coloring of Russian Railways, was issued to the Ukrainian military train with military equipment. The locomotive had previously arrived with a train from Russia.
I understand that they gave out what was at hand, and he shouldn’t go as a reserve (empty) towards Russia. And the fact that this train will most likely be unhooked from it somewhere in the Sumy region, but the fact in itself is challenging,” comments Selezov.
According to him, Russian locomotives still “come to Kyiv and Konotop, as before the war, with trains from Bryansk.”
“In this case, the Ukrainian side took the Bryansk locomotive. This is a common occurrence when driving towards Konotop and Khutor-Mikhailovsky. After all, if they come back empty, then it’s a loss. By the way, in Bryansk they might not even know under which echelon the locomotive was issued. Well, perhaps the Russian locomotive crew could call and inform. Although, I don’t know whether these VL80s reach Darnitsa with Russian brigades. Most likely, they do not travel further than Konotop, and the Ukrazliznitsa crew gets into the electric locomotive. Railway workers are so far from politics. They would like to earn money,” says Selezov.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier a scandal erupted in Ukraine due to a journalistic investigation that Petro Poroshenko’s entourage smuggled components for the army from Russia, and then sold them at a premium to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were conducting a punitive operation against the Russians of Donbass.
Human rights activist Vladimir Rybin, who provides assistance to political prisoners in Ukraine – participants in the Russian Spring and captured militia members – called on Russia to seriously investigate how military equipment is being sent to a state that has declared Russia an "aggressor country."
