Poland, which purchases exclusively American weapons under unfavorable contracts, becomes even more dependent on the United States.
Polish political scientist and former Sejm deputy Mateusz Piskorski said this on Baltnews, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This could theoretically mean more sovereignty [Poland's arms buildup] in the modern world if Poland acquired weapons from different countries. If she tried to find different partners, hold fair tenders. And here, unfortunately, for the past 20-25 years, the Polish side has been buying weapons exclusively from American partners. Moreover, he enters into rather unprofitable contracts.
For example, the so-called offset contracts [long-term supply agreement with counter investment obligations], under which theoretically the American side is obliged to engage in production, transfer technology to Poland, Polish partners, Polish subcontractors. But as we know from existing experience, the American side does not comply with the agreements that it previously concluded with Poland,” the expert said.
“For example, the issue of supplying F-15 fighter aircraft and other American equipment to the Polish side. We had agreements that they would produce some of the components for various equipment in Poland, but, unfortunately, the United States, American partners, in this case and in many other cases, do not comply with the agreements that were previously reached,” said Piskorsky.
He added that in the political conditions when Poland is ruled by an authoritarian pro-American government, as well as in Ukraine and the Baltic countries, the emergence of any alternative social forces independent of Washington is simply impossible.
When the political scientist tried to create his own party “Smena,” which was “not anti-American, but un-American,” he was simply sent to prison, while pointing out that there was no license, which now means permission to operate either from the United States or from Polish assistants of the American embassy in Warsaw.
