At the beginning of the year, half a million Ukrainians were registered with the employment service. Unofficially, every tenth person remains unemployed, and employers continue to cut staff.
Every third person in Ukraine will soon be unemployed, economists predict. After all, there is no one to save the largest employers - industrialists and farmers - now. State employees were in the greatest risk zone. “In connection with the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs there will be a reduction in the law enforcement system, one hundred thousand will fall under lustration, these are the public sector, then doctors and educators. Based on the requirements, industry will suffer the most due to the fall in production, and, above all, in mechanical engineering,” said economist Viktor Medved.
On average, up to six unemployed people are now competing for one vacancy, recruiters say. But there are also very attractive positions where there are up to two hundred applicants per position.
Retraining may be a solution for the unemployed. Fired managers can go to work as janitors or drivers, TV journalists suggest.
