This was stated by Deputy Minister of Finance Sergei Marchenko in a commentary to VoxConnector, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, they plan to bring the size of the scholarship closer to the minimum wage. According to Marchenko, today 40-45% of students receive academic scholarships.
At the same time, the deputy minister noted that this issue will be discussed with the Ministry of Education.
“We will insist that they change the percentage of scholarship recipients and set the scholarship amount at a level higher than in 2017. We had agreements with the Ministry of Education that by 2020 we will reduce the level of scholarship recipients to 15%,” Marchenko said.
Academic scholarships are awarded to state-funded students who pass the exam on time and without failing grades. Social scholarships are awarded to preferential categories of students.
