A BMW with two bags of smuggled amber was “stopped” in Rivne
In Rivne, police stopped a BMW car that violated traffic rules, but in addition, it was discovered that the violator was transporting amber, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the police communications department in the Rivne region.
“During a check of documents from a 32-year-old resident of Rivne and a superficial inspection of the vehicle, inspectors found two bags of stones similar to amber in the trunk,” the department reported.
46 kilograms of packaged stones were seized and sent for examination, based on which an appropriate procedural decision will be made, including reports of suspicion of committing a crime. The Rivne police department has begun a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigator prepared a petition to the court to seize the seizure.
The police added that the driver was given a decision under Part 1 of Article 122 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences. The car was seized and placed on the territory of the police department. According to the incriminated sanctions, the man could face a sentence of imprisonment for up to three years.
