The Russian Academy of Sciences called for the ban on GMOs to be lifted
The current ban on GMOs in Russia is hampering research in the field of genetic engineering, which could stimulate the development of agriculture. Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Dubina said this at a meeting of the Skolkovo Advisory Scientific Council, which was held at Sevastopol State University.

“The future development of agriculture is, of course, connected with genetic engineering. It is clear that we defend our national interests, but the ban on GMOs is a hindrance to the development of agriculture in Russia. It seems to me that the Scientific Advisory Council should advocate for removing this provision from scientific research proposals,” Dubina said.
He was supported by Nobel laureate and Stanford University professor Roger Kornberg, who said that uninformed people mistakenly believe GMO foods are poisonous.
