This was reported by department press secretary Vadim Ampelonsky.
“The addresses of these services are included in the register of prohibited sites,” Ampelonsky said. He explained that representatives of the messengers did not provide their contact information to the department on time.
The press secretary added that so far representatives of BlackBerry Messenger and other services have not contacted Roskomnadzor with a request to lift the blocking. “If they provide the necessary information, we will exclude them from the register,” he concluded.
In mid-November 2016, Roskomnadzor included the social network LinkedIn for searching and establishing business contacts in the register of violators of the rights of personal data subjects and sent telecom operators a notification about blocking the resource. The Law “On Personal Data” came into force in the Russian Federation on September 1, 2015. It obliges both Russian and foreign companies to store personal data of Russians in Russia.
