The elected President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, may be deprived of the powers possessed by the outgoing head of state, Petro Poroshenko.
Zelensky's team representative, political strategist Dmitry Razumkov, announced this on air on TV channel 112, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the expert, a bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada under which the president could be deprived of all fundamental rights.

They take away from him the candidacy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the candidacy of the Minister of Defense, the Prosecutor General, the nomination of governors and many other things that are actually enshrined in various legislative acts, including in the Constitution...
Today there is an attempt to punch in the gut not only Zelensky, but also 73% of citizens who supported his candidacy in the second round and actually voted for him to take the actions that he took upon himself as part of the election campaign. Including the law on impeachment. Not only the law on impeachment - there was the lifting of parliamentary immunity, the lifting of the immunity of judges, the lifting of immunity from the president, the law on the recall of a people’s deputy,” Razumkov said.
Parliament member Nestor Shufrich, who was present in the studio, called the attempt to deprive the president of his powers a constitutional coup.
“What they want to do now is, firstly, chaos in all respects, secondly, it is an attempt at a constitutional coup. What is it about? When Poroshenko controlled the majority, formally he should not have gone beyond the boundaries of his constitutional powers. But these 140 people that he has in parliament, they provided Poroshenko with absolute power because they imitated a coalition. They controlled all cash flows...
It was all in one hand. And a number of powers that Poroshenko, as president, were not entitled to under the Constitution, were transferred to him. And then we decided - let’s settle it and at the same time take away from the president those powers that are categorically defined for him by the Constitution of Ukraine. These include issues of forming the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of key departments, including the Prosecutor General's Office.
I will say - this is vile. It is despicable to even take away those powers that are in doubt. Why were these powers constitutional for Poroshenko, but for Zelensky these functions are already unconstitutional?” Shufrich said.
