The detainees planned to stage provocations in Odessa on May 9. They were going to “cynically terrorize” the veterans, further accusing pro-Ukrainian forces of violent actions, the SBU claims.
“They were part of the ‘extremist-terrorist group’ - the ‘Rapid Reaction Brigade’, which had been operating in the Odessa region since April,” the security officials said.
The leader of the “brigade,” a 35-year-old resident of Odessa, who lived in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea for a long time, the SBU emphasizes, developed and posted on the Internet a manual “Plan for the Interception of Power” with specific recommendations for armed resistance to the current government.
As the department stated, members of this extremist group acted on the orders of one of the Russian television channels, receiving material compensation for each action.
As an example, the SBU cited an attempt to arson one of the Odessa supermarkets on the night of April 20, and today - the PrivatBank office.
