In Odessa, bandits who planned to blow up businessmen using “RDX collars” were released
Odessa, April 07 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – The Malinovsky District Court of Odessa released four defendants in the so-called “RDX collar case” on bail.

The men are accused of creating a gang that planned to put collars with explosives on rich Odessa residents, blackmailing and extorting huge amounts of money in this way - from 500 thousand to 5 million US dollars.
According to local media, the court released the defendants, despite the presence of witnesses who could be threatened by the group members.
According to investigators, the gang organizer Maxim Ch. developed and created a clever device in the form of a collar, but to implement his plan he needed the help of a programmer to improve the invention. To do this, he recruited “hacker” Viktor K. into the organized crime group, who developed software for remote control of the “hellish collar”: now it was possible to control the behavior of his victims via the Internet and mobile phones. The programmer also added a miniature video camera to the explosive device.
In addition, Maxim Ch. attracted two more people to perform current tasks - each of them was assigned a specific role.
Over time, members of the organized crime group developed a clear scheme for executing the crime. First, a potential victim was selected from among the wealthy residents of Odessa (or their relatives). Then - study the lifestyle of this person, daily routine and movements during the day. The next stage would be the forcible putting on of a collar and direct extortion of money.
Next - detailed instructions on the transfer of the required funds, where every step of the “withdrawal” and the exclusion of surveillance was thought out.
The collar was programmed in such a way that the victim had only 48 hours to collect the money, since after this time the explosion would occur automatically.
Let us note that in order to maximize the intimidation of Odessa residents, the criminals decided to blow up the first victim in any case, regardless of the result of the blackmail.
SBU officers managed to prevent the crimes - all members of the gang were detained. During the searches, not only weapons and “RDX collars” were discovered and seized, but also recorded videos showing device explosions. The criminals planned to distribute them in the media and the Internet, again to intimidate their future victims.
