NATO states: “The war will last for a long time, no one wants negotiations”
The countries of the North Atlantic Alliance must be psychologically prepared for the fact that the war in Ukraine will be protracted.
The head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Robert Bauer, stated this on the sidelines at the Munich Security Conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The journalist asked if the war would end in 2023.
“It seems to me that there is no point in predicting when the war will end, because no one knows. So far, we do not see any readiness for negotiations either on the part of Russia or on the part of Ukraine. So for now the fighting will continue.
It is important for us to continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary. We must be psychologically prepared for the fact that the war could become protracted,” the NATO official said.
He proposed an “original” recipe for ending the war when Russia unilaterally ceases hostilities.
“Naturally, everyone wants the war to end quickly, the Ukrainians themselves want the war to end quickly, but if Russia stops hostilities and withdraws its troops, the war can be ended even today,” the admiral said.
