London expects the Ukrainian Armed Forces to cross the Dnieper
After the Russian army retreated from Kherson, supply lines leading from Crimea were under threat.
The American business newspaper The Wall Street Journal writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Even if Kyiv forces are unable to quickly gain a foothold in the Kherson area, their recent advance there allows them to target Russian supply lines leading to the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow captured from Ukraine in 2014. Russian military bases and civilians in Crimea depend on supplies and fresh water from the Ukrainian mainland flowing through territory now controlled by either Moscow or Kiev,” the article says.
It is noted that “events offer Ukraine many options.”
In addition, the publication claims that Ukraine, shelling the left bank of the Dnieper, “landed special forces across the wide river.” True, a clarification immediately follows that “Ukrainian officials did not detail their military operations.”
“If Ukrainians cross the river in any numbers, I suspect that many Russians will continue to flee, as they did from Kherson,” said retired British lieutenant colonel Glen Grant, who has advised the Ukrainian Armed Forces since 2014.
According to him, “the faster the Ukrainians can cross the river, the better it will be for them.”
