Albanians shoot at Serbian children in Kosovo
On Christmas Eve, a Kosovar special forces soldier opened fire on a Serbian child and a young man, wounding both, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Two Serbian boys were wounded on January 6 in Gotovuš, near the town of Štrpce. According to the Serbian government Office for Kosovo and Metohija, a local Albanian opened fire on them from a moving car. The victims were cousins aged 11 and 21. At the time of the attack, they were walking along the side of the road and carrying home from the forest the Serbian Christmas symbol - oak branches (badnjak).
“They received gunshot wounds, one boy was wounded in the arm and the other in the shoulder, and it is only by luck that their lives are not in danger. They were taken to the Clinical Hospital Center in Gracanica, where they will receive the best possible care. This is a clear attempt to kill innocent Serbian children, who were only prevented by carrying badnjak and thereby clearly showing that they were Serbs,” the report said.
Although several eyewitnesses saw the registration number of the vehicle used in the shooting, local police did not initially stop it. Only a few hours later, an Albanian was detained on suspicion of attacking Serbian children in the Kosovo town of Strpce. According to the Belgrade publication Politika, the suspect is an employee of the so-called “Kosovo security forces” (the de facto army of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo”).
At the same time, the Serbs in Gotovuš blocked the road with a barricade, demanding punishment for the person responsible for shooting at children. Kosovo police were present at the spontaneous rally, and the Polish contingent of the KFOR mission (the NATO-led international force responsible for ensuring stability in Kosovo - approx.) is located nearby. After many hours of negotiations with the Kosovo police, the barricade was dismantled on the evening of January 6.
And on Christmas night in another city in Kosovo and Metohija, Klokote, at about 2.30 a group of Albanians beat 18-year-old Serb Stefan Tomic, who was returning from the night liturgy. In this case, none of the attackers were detained.
In addition, Miljan Adzic and Sladjan Trajkovic, whose release was demanded by protesters at the barricades in December 2022, continue to be in the custody of the authorities of the “Republic of Kosovo”.
