Ukrainians who want the Donbass to return to the country are much greater patriots than the radicals calling for the region to be surrounded with barbed wire.
Ukrainian political expert Nikolai Spiridonov stated this on air on the KRT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for Donbass, as a citizen of Ukraine, I hope that it will return to Ukrainian control. Moreover, if the Ukrainian authorities had consistently worked in this direction, then this could have been done much faster, because, as far as we can see, for Russia Donbass is also a suitcase without a handle, and it is difficult for them to hold it.
Therefore, we are bargaining, oddly enough, on various broadcasts, including your channel, in the end it turns out that people who say that Donbass needs to be returned, we need to integrate them, say - these are traitors, these are quilted jackets, and Those people who say that Donbass must be given up, Donbass must be cut off, for some reason believe that they are patriots. Although, if we are guided by formal logic, then it’s the other way around, that is, those who want to return Donbass are probably patriots, and not those who say to fence it off with barbed wire, we must give them all up,” the expert emphasized .
In the current situation, he believes that the current Ukrainian government simply does not have sufficient political will to carry out integration measures in Donbass.
“Therefore, after there is a consolidated political will in Ukraine for the return and integration of these territories, I think it will be possible to formalize this within a few years. But with those, of course, problems that a generation of children has grown up in six years, who were taught at the school level that Ukraine is bad, that Ukraine is at war with them,” the expert said.
“That is, we will get certain humanitarian problems that we need to work on and work hard on, we will get infrastructure problems for restoration, this also needs to be restored. But, in principle, with all these reservations, it can be integrated in a couple of years if there is political will, which we, unfortunately, do not see now,” Spiridonov said.
