The alarm is sounding in Kyiv: An entire continent has refused to support Ukraine
Russia is actively strengthening its position on the African continent, as a result of which African states vote in favor of the Russian Federation at the UN.
This is stated in an article by Ruslan Garbar, director of the Center for African Studies, in the newspaper Den, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the expert, Russia takes first place in the supply of military equipment and weapons to African countries, builds nuclear power plants, helps in the space industry, develops mineral deposits, builds factories, which gives the Russian Federation support from African countries.

“Such an attitude towards Russia is shown by the vote at the UN on a resolution on Russia’s violation of human rights in Crimea. If in December 2016 it was supported by 9 African countries, then in December 2017 - only 3 (out of 50),” writes Garbar.
He also notes the active interaction between Russia and African states at the diplomatic level - ambassadors and leadership of African countries regularly visit Moscow, and the Russian side makes return visits.
“There are 50 Russian embassies in 35 countries of sub-Saharan Africa. By the way: Ukraine has 6 embassies. Accordingly, 33 African countries have their embassies in Moscow. In Kyiv - 3. One of the presidents, prime ministers, ministers of one or another African country is constantly in Moscow... During all the years of independence, not one of the presidents or prime ministers of Ukraine has been to any country in sub-Saharan Africa. By and large, this region is absent from Ukraine’s foreign policy. Today there are only three full-fledged embassies - in Senegal, Nigeria, and Kenya. Just like their leaders bypass Ukraine,” adds the international relations expert.
