Europe is surprised by the doubling of the minimum wage in Ukraine – Baltserovich
Almost all international experts were surprised by the decision to double the minimum wage in Ukraine starting from the new year.

The author of the Polish “shock therapy”, and now co-chairman of the group of strategic advisers to support reforms in Ukraine, Leszek Balcerowicz, said this on Channel 5.
“I wasn’t the only one who was surprised. Almost all international experts, because it was unexpected. It seemed to us that there were no such calculations, but we’ll see what the results will be,” he noted.
“I don’t quite agree that one step can improve the standard of living. No one has succeeded. How is it possible? If the economy develops due to better conditions for private business. This needs to be accelerated and there are huge reserves. This could be done faster and the standard of living would also rise faster,” Baltserovich assures.
“And Ukraine’s position in the outside world, in Europe, would be better. They would see that despite so many problems, Ukraine is moving forward... With trust comes political support and foreign investment,” he lectures the Ukrainians.
