By a decision of the Slovak court dated December 20, 2017, in pursuance of the decision of the Stockholm arbitration court on the claim of the Yugaz company, gas supplies from Slovakia to the NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine were arrested, reports the influential Kiev newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli.

The publication notes that the final decision on the claim of the Italian company Yugaz was made by the Stockholm Arbitration Court on December 19, 2012, although we are talking about a transaction in 2007, when the plaintiff filed a claim in arbitration against NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine in order to recover the cost of the supplied gas. The total amount of the claim, including fines and penalties, is currently about $21 million.
“The Italian company tried to enforce the 2012 Stockholm arbitration award in Ukraine, but was unsuccessful. After that, in accordance with international law, she turned to the courts of other countries, trying to enforce the decision of the Stockholm arbitration. The arbitration award is presented to the courts of other countries for execution and is executed according to the internal procedures (laws) of these countries,” the newspaper writes.
“ZN” recalls that Naftogaz imports gas through Slovakia, Poland and from Hungary. At the same time, the largest volume was imported from Slovakia in 2017 - over 8 billion cubic meters.
