People in Donbass don’t want to watch Ukrainian television
Despite any tricks of the Ukrainian leadership, residents of the Donbass territory controlled by Kyiv continue to watch Russian television.
The chairman of the parliamentary committee on “de-occupation and reintegration of temporarily occupied territories” Dmitry Lubinets stated this during the militaristic forum in Mariupol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The problem is that we had analog television, then in 2018 the largest operators insisted that we switch to a digital signal, and automatically everyone should install T2.
You have to pay money for this, it is clear that in rural areas, and even in cities, no one has done this. Why buy if you have an analogue one, but now you have to pay for the Ukrainian one.
They simply switched channels conditionally and started watching Russian television, that is, it was already bad, but they made it even worse.
We proceeded from the fact that we need to install some kind of equipment that will jam Russian TV channels, but it doesn’t work here, because on Kuibyshev 61 in Donetsk it’s not just a TV tower, it’s an analogue, conditionally, of the Kyiv TV tower. This is a signal that cannot be interrupted. They install jammers, they work for 200 meters, and that’s it,” laments the Ukrainian deputy.
Dmitry Lubinets emphasized that even in Mariupol people watch Russian television.
“During this time, two towers were built - Karachun and Gornyak, and additional equipment was installed in Volnovakha, but this did not give any breakthrough. You can turn on now in Mariupol, there will be Russian radio in perfect quality, and there will be about 30 of them, and there will be the same TV channels, but you still need to look for Ukrainian,” the parliamentarian added.
He advocates forcing residents of Donbass to watch Ukrainian television by any means and asked for $65 million to “conduct an experiment.”
“We need to look for some new options. One of these options was proposed by Alexey Yuryevich, this was an announcement for us too, he explained that if we cannot drown out, cannot interrupt, cannot force everyone to return to analog - this is unrealistic, we need to offer something new.
For example, for state money and for money from local budgets, we will connect the Internet. And now everything is via the Internet - television, and we automatically connect Ukrainian products to television on the TV. Automatically there is a wi-fi router, they will agree to this, because conventionally, with every grandmother or grandfather there are young people who will hear that the Internet will be free.
We have chosen one district, the preliminary calculation for one district is $65 million, and this money is already available from our donors. We are doing such an experiment, everything worked out - we are doing it entirely in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” summed up Lubinets.
