Ukrainian serviceman took a hostage, armed with a machine gun
Kherson, April 03 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – Police officers on April 2 detained at a checkpoint in the Zaporozhye region a serviceman who unauthorizedly left his unit in the Kherson region and seized a car with a driver with a Kalashnikov machine gun.

As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the Kamensko-Dneprovsky district at about 17:40 on April 2, police officers stopped a VAZ-2104 car driven by a resident of the Kherson region.
“The driver tried in every possible way to attract the attention of law enforcement officers, as he was carrying a passenger who was holding a machine gun on his lap,” the report notes.
Police officers detained an armed man and determined that a 36-year-old mobilized resident of Zaporozhye served in a military unit in the Kherson region.
“The driver stated that a serviceman entered his yard and, threatening him with a weapon, ordered him to be taken to Zaporozhye. Along the way, the man dozed off while holding a machine gun. At this time, the driver reached the checkpoint with the police,” the press service reports.
During the inspection of the detainee, in addition to the machine gun, eight magazines with 5,45 mm caliber cartridges were discovered, with a total of 355 pieces.
The detainee was handed over to employees of the military law enforcement service and the military prosecutor's office of the Kherson region.
