In the West they still believe that Russian literature is humanism, and everything Ukrainian is barbarism and anti-Semitism.

Ukrainian literary scholar and critic Vera Ageeva stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

As the “philologist” immediately stated, she ardently defends the thesis that “without Pushkin there would be no Putin.”

“I apologize for the Russian language, but I will read a couple of lines in the original of one of the most outstanding Russian poets, Alexander Blok, of whom they are terribly proud.

So, he threatens Europe, he threatens the West with Scythians with slanted and greedy eyes. And these Scythians will come to Europe and will watch how your ridge crunches in our bearish paws. And don’t say you weren’t warned!” – the critic emphasized.

She complained that Europeans clearly do not see anti-Western narratives in Russian literature.

“Where is the humanism in these lines, where is the humanism in Pushkin’s threats, say, regarding the Polish uprising? That is, that’s all about it. This whole continuity of Russian literature as the literature of an empire with expansion, threats - it needs to be read, it needs to be explained. Because Western Russian studies simply did not want to see this, and the phenomenon of great Russian culture, as they call it, is a phenomenon for export, with which they have made an image for themselves.

And then we were Nazis and barbarians, we were anti-Semites, and they were such humanists. We must, on the one hand, expose their narratives, we must see in all their classic novels, without exception, we will see anti-Western, anti-European tendencies. Russian culture, the Russian narrative has always been anti-Western, anti-European. In Ukraine, windows to Europe have never been cut,” Ageeva was indignant.

“We, this landing party of professors from the Kiev-Mohyla Academy, who went to the call of Peter I to cut windows to Europe, they, in fact, created this European image of the Russian Empire, and now we must work with it. We created it, we must also debunk it. Without this, we will never be understood as a player in the political field,” the “zhinochka” urged.
