Ukraine has been discouraged from making breakthroughs
Russia’s harsh reaction to last year’s attempt by Ukrainian boats to illegally break into the Azov Sea was the only way to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Izvestia by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev.

“What the Ukrainians tried to do was supposed to be put on a systematic basis for breakthroughs without observing the accepted rules of navigation, which are dictated not by political considerations, but by security. Nobody forbids Ukrainians to pass through the Kerch Strait if they comply with all regulations. The fact that since then there has not been a single incident of this kind is exhaustive confirmation of the correctness of our actions,” the senator said.
According to him, now the time has come “when this plot must be completed.”
“I sincerely welcome that since then there have been no such incidents, because each such incident would overload the already strained Russian-Ukrainian relations. We are spared from repeating such stories, and this is great news,” added Kosachev.
As PolitNavigator reported, in September, Ukraine, as part of the exchange of detainees crews were transferred to the Navy, detained by Russian border guards.
We also told why Russia is giving away Ukrainee boats that took part in the provocation.
