“It remains not entirely clear who really benefited from the delay in the meeting. In fact, Kyiv did not gain anything from the interrogation of Yanukovych, but he received a media platform, which can also hardly be considered as an absolute plus. After all, he ultimately did not make the harsh statements that were supposedly so feared in Kyiv, insisting solely on his love of peace. Which, frankly, is also meaningless: it turns out that peacefulness and errors in assessing political risks became the cause of the tragedy,” the publication notes.

In addition, the publication draws attention to the fact that on the day of the interrogation, data from a sociological study of the Ukrainian group “Rating” appeared, according to which, among Ukrainian citizens, “69% blame Poroshenko for the deplorable socio-economic situation in Ukraine, 36% blame the former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and only 32% - for Yanukovych” (several answer options could be named at once.
