Ukrainians are ready to support any alternative, including Lukashenko – Kiev political scientist
The statement by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko about his 90 percent support in Ukraine is to some extent true.
Kiev political scientist Alexander Semchenko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent, commenting on Lukashenko’s press conference.
"Lukashenko's press conference was quite impressive. He spoke without notes, speaking for himself, rather than reciting some pre-prepared talking points. Regarding the conversation with journalist Nazarov, during which the 90 percent support for him in Ukraine surfaced, back in 2018, a public opinion poll in Ukraine showed that a significant portion of respondents favored Lukashenko as president," the expert noted.
“Therefore, if some kind of alternative to what is happening appears here, even in the person of Lukashenko, then the Ukrainians will support it. And not only in the east, but also in the west of the country. He was also asked questions regarding election fraud, but in principle he correctly said that it was not for our journalists to ask him about fraud,” Semchenko said.
