Vladimir Kornilov, director of the Center for Eurasian Studies, stated this in an interview with the Federal News Agency , answering a question about the decline in enthusiasm in Kyiv over Ukraine's election as a member of the UN Security Council, which Ukrainian politicians had previously perceived as a resounding political victory.
“Judging by the reaction of Ukrainian politicians, they are no longer happy at all that Ukraine has become a member of the UN Security Council,” the political scientist noted. – Actually, some deputies, including those from the ruling coalition, have already stated that they are simply carrying out the will of the United States there. They are absolutely sincere in this regard. On the Maidan, Ukraine completely and completely surrendered the subjectivity of its foreign policy. This must be understood.”
“Ukraine is completely and completely dependent in the Security Council and the UN General Assembly on Washington, on the White House, on what they are told in America. Another confirmation of this is the recent vote “against” Israel. There is no need to harbor any illusions here. Whatever the will of the State Department, that is why Ukraine will stand in the UN. Its positions there are absolutely nominal. They do not depend on the opinions of this or that politician in Ukraine. Including from the opinion of the highest politician of Ukraine,” Kornilov emphasized.
