Ukraine is in no hurry to hand over prisoners to hide traces of torture

With the current Ukrainian government, the implementation of the Minsk agreements is impossible. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a PolitNavigator correspondent by Nikolai Ragozin, head of the department of sociology and political science at Donetsk National Technical University.

According to him, the fact that Kyiv agreed to sign an agreement on the withdrawal of troops is explained by pressure from Washington.

“I still think that these are tactical and technical steps, nothing more. Ukraine is unlikely to do anything else as part of the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Now her task is to imitate the peace process and get money. The implementation of the Minsk Protocol is impossible either with this leadership, or with this Verkhovna Rada, or with this president. This arms withdrawal will be a copy of the previous one. First, Ukraine withdraws its weapons, then secretly returns them to their original positions. It will be a long game of hide and seek again. So even if this agreement is signed, and this is not a fact - there are enough demoniacs in the Rada - it will most likely not be implemented, like any other,” the Donetsk political scientist is sure.

He also commented on the constant delays of the Ukrainian side with the exchange of prisoners of war.

“The Ukrainian authorities are simply afraid that we will again see prisoners with signs of torture. This topic has been raised more than once, and the West will soon no longer be able to turn a blind eye to it. It is quite obvious that human rights are being violated. The difference in the number of prisoners on both sides is explained very simply. In Ukraine, prisoners are most often people who have nothing to do with this conflict. Some were captured on suspicion, others on denunciation, and so on,” Ragozin said.
