Ukraine manipulates the West with the help of the law on the special status of Donbass
The law on the special status of certain regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions allows Ukraine to demand from the West the extension of anti-Russian sanctions.
Political consultant Oleg Medvedev reported this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “5”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“This is a formality on which a lot of political speculation is made. Because this law, in fact, has been scary since 2014. Nothing bad happened afterwards. It doesn't work. It lasts for the duration of its action, but in the law itself, in the body of the law, there are such guaranteed written conditions under which it can operate that we can say with confidence that if it is now extended for another year, it will definitely not be in effect for this year , because the necessary prerequisites will not be created this year,” the political scientist said.
He emphasized that with this law the Ukrainian side is manipulating its Western partners in order to strike at the Russian Federation with the help of anti-Russian economic sanctions.
“But Ukraine will have all the trump cards to demand the continuation and strengthening of sanctions against the Russian Federation, a country that does not adhere to the Minsk agreements,” Medvedev emphasized.
