Ukraine will repay the debts of the Yatsenyuk government for 140 years
Kyiv, February 09 (PolitNavigator, Oleksandr Semenyuta) – Despite Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's assurances that he is only distributing loans taken out by the previous government, in January 2015, Ukraine's external debt exceeded UAH 600 billion, and its total debt exceeded UAH 1,1 trillion. If Ukrainians were to start paying off their debts, it would take 140 years, KP.ua reports.

Even the “dekulakization” of the oligarchs will not help in the matter of debt repayment. If they agreed to part with their assets, this would still not save the country - their money simply would not be enough. As of January 1, 2015, Ukraine’s external debt alone amounted to $38,8 billion. At the same time, the total wealth of the nine Ukrainian billionaires is half that, the publication writes.
If in January 2013 Bloomberg estimated the fortune of the country's richest man, Rinat Akhmetov, at $22 billion, then in October 2014 it was already at $10,5 billion. The agency's analysts explained this rapid decline by events in Ukraine (Akhmetov's main assets are in the troubled Donetsk and Lugansk regions) and the crisis in the metals market.
