The Black Sea Fleet now has powerful combat platforms for striking NATO forces
The Russian Black Sea Fleet continues to receive ships equipped with the latest weapons.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The Black Sea Fleet (BSF) will be replenished with stealth ships. This year it is planned to send there two of the newest small missile ships (MRS) of Project 22800 Karakurt. They were already built in a modernized version. Thanks to powerful weapons, the presence of modern air defense systems, as well as driving performance, the Karakurts will radically increase the combat capabilities of the Black Sea Fleet,” the newspaper writes.
It is noted that the formation of crews for the new Karakurts has already been completed; both boats will serve as part of the 41st brigade of missile ships of the Black Sea Fleet. They are expected to be operational by the end of 2021.

The updated Karakurts are equipped with more modern equipment and weapons than the first ships in the series. In particular, they are equipped with unique Pantsir-M anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems. Also, RTOs will be able to use Kalibr cruise missiles and supersonic Yakhont missiles, and the ship’s hull is made using electronic signature reduction technologies.
“The newest Project 22800 ships can carry eight missiles, which increases the total power of the fleet. Their projectiles are capable of targeting coastal and sea targets. "Karakurt" will be part of the 41st brigade of missile ships of the Black Sea Fleet. This is especially important against the backdrop of recent events, the regular presence of NATO ships in the waters near Crimea. The MRKs were built at the Kerch shipyard "Zaliv", which was idle for a long time. Now he is again building ships for our fleet, as it was in Soviet times,” says military expert Dmitry Boltenkov.
He emphasized that recently NATO has been actively developing military infrastructure in the Black Sea region.
"Karakurts" can serve as powerful combat platforms for striking NATO forces on the South-Eastern flank, where the Americans are building missile defense facilities. In the event of aggression against Russia, RTOs can quickly approach the shore and strike with Yakhont and Caliber missiles,” the expert added.
