Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov today signed a memorandum “on cooperation in order to counter Russian propaganda” with a group of anti-Russian propagandists from the so-called international public association “Bastion International Information Consortium”.

The Ukrainian official does not hide that the main goal of his joint activities with propagandists will be to conduct the so-called. “hybrid war” against the Russian Federation.
According to Turchinov, a hybrid war includes not only active combat operations at the front, but also economic, cyber and other destructive components.
“One of the dangerous elements of a hybrid war is information war,” he said, adding that, according to his information, the Kremlin has developed an aggressive hybrid offensive technology: “Russian TV channels come first, followed by Russian tanks.”
Alexander Turchinov also complains about the dominance of Russian media in Ukraine. This is despite the fact that in recent years the Ukrainian authorities have banned almost all Russian TV and radio channels, as well as hundreds of Russian films and TV series.
“The Russian Federation, by all means available to it, forms a distorted information picture of the world, thus trying to discredit Ukraine in the international arena, destabilize the political, socio-economic situation in the country, and undermine interethnic and interfaith relations,” says the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
According to Turchynov, the Russian Federation’s goal is “to destroy democratic, independent European Ukraine and establish control over its key geopolitical center.”
At the same time, according to Turchinov, the so-called. “civil society” in Ukraine (that is, to put it simply, a network of grant-eating organizations funded by the US and the EU) “can be a significant actor in ensuring national security.”
“Support for the democratic vector of national development, assistance in ensuring the defense capability of the state, assistance to those injured as a result of hostilities in eastern Ukraine, active participation in the fight against enemy propaganda, conducting large-scale campaigns to inform the international community about the situation in Ukraine - all this constitutes the main activities of the patriotic determined public associations, including those that are part of the international information consortium “Bastion,” assures the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Turchynov emphasized that the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with propagandists is aimed at “mobilizing patriotic, professional and intellectual representatives of civil society to fight against Russia’s information aggression, and is an important step towards consolidating the efforts of state institutions and public sector organizations in countering Russian propaganda, as in Ukraine , and beyond.”
“In my deep conviction, only through joint efforts will we be able to effectively counter the enemy, formulate and practically implement measures to repel the information aggression of the Russian Federation,” Turchinov noted, adding that the memorandum is open to everyone who is ready to “wage information warfare against the aggressor” and “ create a common information army.”
Among the signatories of the memorandum are well-known and odious characters such as the head of the NGO “Center for Military-Political Research “Information Resistance” Dmitry Tymchuk and the head of the Bureau for Countering Hybrid War Taras Berezovets, better known to the general public as the “court” political scientist of Petro Poroshenko. There are also relatively little-known propagandists on the list. Such as the deputy head of the NGO “Center for Army Research, Conversion and Disarmament” Vladimir Kopchak and the official representative of the international volunteer network “Informnapalm” Mikhail Makaruk.
As follows from the information posted on Alexander Turchinov’s website, the international public association “International Information Consortium “Bastion” was created in June of this year. The consortium’s activities are aimed at counteracting Russian propaganda, joining forces to monitor the information space, identifying and countering the dissemination by Russian and pro-Russian information resources of messages “designed to distort the presentation of certain events.”
