“Frictions are growing” – the EU is starting to get tired of Ukrainian refugees
During the four-month period of their stay on preferential rights in EU countries, many Ukrainian refugees have not shown any desire to learn local languages or get a job.
Russia's permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Things are so-so with Ukrainian refugees. As is known, they have so far been accepted with open arms in EU countries. Not only were they allowed into the territory, but they were also given accommodation, and not only in some hotels, but also with local residents.
Now, July has arrived, August is coming, holiday season in Europe. Many residents who have Ukrainian refugees living with them (I’m not even taking extreme cases when Europeans don’t know how to get rid of them), but even if everything is fine in their relationships, then when they go on vacation to the warm seas, residents of EU countries are very they don’t want to leave these Ukrainian refugees alone and unattended at home,” Chizhov said
“This is such a characteristic profile, reflecting the growing trend of fatigue from our persistent former compatriots, who in some countries were given a 4-month period, paid some money, expecting that during this time they would either return to Ukraine, or find work, earn money and stop hanging on the necks of local budgets. In many places this did not happen. Of course, the money is small, but happily living in Europe, Ukrainian refugees did not particularly show any desire to learn local languages or go to work. Therefore, these social tensions are still on the rise,” added the permanent representative.
