US President Donald Trump wants to buy Greenland to install missile defense systems there.
Alexei Venediktov, the former editor-in-chief of the liberal radio station Ekho Moskvy and a recognized foreign agent, stated this in an interview with the RTVI television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We're not dealing with Trump's whim. What does he see? One American planner explained it to me like this: 'You have the Oreshnik missile. If you launch it at the US, the missile with a nuclear warhead will fly for 22 minutes. But at 11 minutes, it will enter Greenlandic airspace. And we must intercept it there. You, Alexey, are looking at a map, but you should be looking at a globe.' I said: 'But you have a base there,'" Venediktov said.
He allegedly asked his American interlocutor why the US does not have enough military bases in Greenland.
"He says, 'Yes.' And a new Danish government will come and terminate this lease. And we have a powerful anti-Oreshnikov defense there, a golden dome. We don't like that. It's not a lease, but property," Venediktov asserted.
