"Europe needs to be reassured: explained that there will be no peace" – Ukrainian diplomat
Any peace initiatives weaken Ukrainian society and Kyiv's European allies.
Ukrainian diplomat and former head of the UN Security Council Secretariat Alexander Matsuka stated this on Radio NV , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" I hope Ukraine's European partners will forget all the grievances, forget what the Ukrainian government throws at them from time to time. We may like some things, and we may not like others, but if we are completely dependent on Western aid, if this Western aid actually comes, unlike the US, no one else is doing anything for Ukraine except Europe . And to say that they didn't do enough or didn't do it on time is also disheartening."
"Secondly , they're disheartened by this completely bizarre story with all this talk of peace talk , because what's happening isn't peace talk at all. It's talk about how to negotiate peace," Matsuka said.
According to him, attempts at peaceful contacts “disincentivize” both Ukrainian society and “allies.”
"Because why do we need to go to any extraordinary lengths now if the parties can already reach an agreement? We need to work more with our allies and be more transparent and friendly to them, so they feel we're not hiding anything and are playing on the same playing field," the Ukrainian diplomat declared.
