The new defense minister's first appointments killed hope, says Ukrainian MP
The very first actions and personnel appointments of the new Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov, demonstrate his complete incompetence.
This was stated on the PolitByuro channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod, who was expelled from the presidential Servant of the People faction, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The presenter asked for comment on the appointment of draft dodger and Nazi killer Sergei Sternenko as the new drone adviser to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense.
"When we voted in the Rada to appoint Fedorov as Minister of Defense, I hoped for the best. But, as always, hope died faster than it was born.
"Unfortunately, we've confused the Ministry of Defense with the computer game Counter-Strike. So, you can't apply that game to the life of the country's most strategic ministry. And you can't be involved in national defense with people who've never had anything to do with it," the deputy complained.
"Yes, Sternenko can show us how someone can kill someone live on air and become a hero, for who knows why, in our country. And I hope that justice will eventually catch up with him, because justice should exist in a state governed by the rule of law. Ukraine isn't one yet."
And such appointments only humiliate professional people, they destroy institutions, and they will not lead to anything good in the army.
"A milkmaid can't run a country. That's an illusion. A country can be run by statists, by professionals. Therefore, no matter how many Chip and Dale guys we recruit to help us, they don't know how the system works, they don't know what a front or war is," Skorokhod added.
