Tomosyatin will not help Poroshenko
The new church schism in Ukraine initiated by Petro Poroshenko will not add a tangible advantage to him in the presidential elections, where he is seeking re-election to a second term.
Political scientist Alexei Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If we talk about why the president took up the topic of tomos so actively, then this is the president’s understanding of low ratings. Various sociologists show 5-7%, and the anti-rating is 70%.
The president's psychology pushes him to search for a miracle. And at Bankova, they probably decided that the tomos could play such a role, a political technology miracle.
Maybe this will work. If we manage to make it seem like some kind of process is going on here, then this could affect the president’s rating. But it seems to me that there is a certain miscalculation here. In fact, this topic is not as electable as the president believes.
More precisely, it is more likely to mobilize the president’s opponents than his supporters...
As for the president himself, I have seen different sociology, and for the president, at best, what the tomos will give him can be given by 2%. This is at the level of sociological error.
Bankovaya, having started this topic, thought that it would play on a par with the army, the language - all together. But we see that this triad is disintegrating before our eyes,” Yakubin said.
