The Guardian: How dare the West criticize Russia after the invasion of Iraq?!
Kyiv, March 10 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The famous British daily newspaper “The Guardian” was indignant at criticism from Western Europe and the United States against Russia, which sent its troops to Crimea, given the brutal invasion of Iraq 11 years ago.

The publication claims that in the current situation in Crimea - in the confrontation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation - each side is not behaving entirely correctly and truthfully: “Each side throws false dichotomies at the other,” the media claims.
“So, one side loudly condemns Russia for its armed invasion of Crimea, thereby violating the sovereignty of Ukraine. What hypocrisy... How dare the West criticize Russia when the USA, Great Britain and their allies invaded Iraq 11 years ago, the article recalls. - It's a choice. Either Russia is wrong or the West is wrong.”
And if the publication is still somehow trying to understand the criticism of Russia by Western Europe, then it considers the criticism of America to be clearly hypocritical. The Guardian is surprised by US Secretary of State John Kerry's particularly harsh remarks, "given his 2002 Senate vote that gave George W. Bush the authority to use military force against Saddam Hussein."
At the same time, the newspaper admits that it would be “foolish to throw the Iraq precedent back at Barack Obama.” “He is president of the United States, in part, because he opposed the 2003 invasion. It was his position on Iraq that helped him defeat Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, the material recalls. – You can condemn Obama if you want on Libya or the ongoing US drone war, but the specific example of Iraq does not make his position on Crimea hypocritical. That makes it consistent."
According to the authors of the article, the truth in the current situation cannot be on one side.
“The world is rarely black or white. It typically requires us to hold two apparently contradictory thoughts in our head at the same time. Life is not an either/or. It’s both at once,” the publication calls for objectivity.
