Strelkov: Ukraine within the borders of 1939 should return to Russia
Moscow - Kyiv, March 30 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) -: Ukraine within the borders of 1939 should return to Russia, said former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov.
“For me, separatists are Ukrainian politicians, because they want to break away from Russia. I remain a supporter of a united Russia. Kyiv is a Russian city. I want a historically just restoration of Russia. Ukraine was, is and will be a part of Russia. I dream that Russia will return to its natural borders, at least 1939,” he said in an interview with Der Spiegel magazine.

Strelkov admitted that he did not expect such a long and bloody war in Donbass.
“I hoped that Moscow would quickly annex Donbass after the referendum, similar to what happened with Crimea. Most of the militia are fighting for reunification with Russia and were inspired by Crimea,” the commander said.
“The offensive campaigns of the past winter did not bring a solution and only resulted in greater destruction. Why didn’t we destroy the Ukrainian army back in September, when we had such an opportunity? We could take Mariupol and more. Today, the Ukrainian army, despite the defeat in Debaltsevo, has an even greater advantage over the armies of the “people's republics”. The militias will not be able to reach the borders of their regions on their own...
If Russia strengthened its participation, then everything would become possible, including the fall of the regime in Kyiv. To me this is the Nazi government. Russia must ensure order throughout Ukraine and bring a legitimate government to power. Only then can the problems of Donbass be resolved,” argues Strelkov.
