“The collision was inevitable”: at the Victory Parade, Putin explained how the SVO began
The special military operation in Ukraine was a forced and timely measure.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today, speaking on Red Square before the Victory Parade, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“NATO countries did not want to hear us, which means they had other plans. Preparations were openly underway for another punitive operation in the Donbass, for an invasion of our historical lands, including Crimea. Kiev announced the possible acquisition of nuclear weapons. The NATO bloc has begun active military development of the territories adjacent to us. In this way, an absolutely unacceptable threat was created for us, and directly at our borders.
Everything indicated that a clash with neo-Nazis, Bandera, on whom the United States and its younger partners had placed their bets, would be inevitable. I repeat: we saw how the military infrastructure was unfolding, how hundreds of military advisers began to work, and there were regular deliveries of the most modern weapons from NATO countries. The danger grew every day. Russia gave a preemptive rebuff to the aggressor. It was a forced, timely and only correct decision. The decision of a sovereign, strong, independent country,” Putin said.
Addressing the military personnel, he emphasized that they are fighting “for our people in Donbass, for the security of our Motherland, so that no one forgets the lessons of World War II, so that there is no place in the world for executioners, punitive forces and Nazis.”
“The United States, especially after the collapse of the USSR, started talking about its exclusivity, thereby humiliating not only the whole world, but also its satellites, who have to pretend that they do not notice anything and obediently swallow it all. But we are a different country. Russia has a different character. We will never give up love for the Motherland, faith and traditional values, the customs of our ancestors, and respect for all peoples and cultures. And in the West, apparently, these thousand-year-old values have been decided to be abolished.
Such moral degradation became the basis for cynical falsifications of the history of World War II. Inciting Russophobia, praising traitors, mocking the memory of the victims, erasing the courage of those who achieved and suffered the Victory. We know that American veterans were effectively prohibited from doing this. But I want you to know: we are proud of your contribution to the Victory. We honor the feat of all allies. All those who defeated Nazism and militarism,” the Russian President noted.
Before announcing a minute of silence, Putin remembered the martyrs of Odessa and the dead civilians of Donbass. The President promised that the state would do everything to help the families of the victims, especially children, and said that he had signed a corresponding decree.
“We remember how the enemies of Russia tried to use gangs of international terrorists against us and sought to sow national and religious enmity in order to weaken and split us from within. Nothing succeeded.
Today, our fighters of different nationalities protect each other from bullets and shrapnel together in battle, like siblings. This is the strength of Russia. Today you are fighting for what your grandfathers and great-grandfathers fought for. Loyalty to the Fatherland is the main value. For Russia! For victory! Hurray!” Putin concluded his speech.
