There are serious problems with Facebook's business model that are becoming dangerous for citizens.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent , Henri Verdier, the French Foreign Ministry's digital ambassador, stated this in an interview with Kommersant, explaining why he left Facebook and WhatsApp.
“This is a personal decision, it is not the official policy of France. I came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with Facebook's business model, there was a problem. What worries me the most is personalized advertising, personalized content. Frankly, I believe that the January 6 attack on Capitol Hill was largely due to Facebook,” said a French Foreign Ministry spokesman.
According to him, Facebook does not think about giving its audience quality information.
“They create microworlds, fragment people. I don't know if you've seen this, but during the Trump campaign, 50 micro-messages were sent out daily to 000 different micro-communities using artificial intelligence. This fragmentation of citizens, from my point of view, is very dangerous. And they train their artificial intelligence using our data. I don’t want my data to fuel this business model,” Verdier concluded.
