UN Security Council on North Korea's missiles for Russia - the United States made a shameful false start
Today, a meeting of the UN Security Council took place, where the West accused Russia of receiving North Korean missiles, which were allegedly used during the military offensive in Ukraine.
The Americans were the main initiators, but the event actually ended in nothing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The US official stated that Russia frequently convenes meetings condemning arms supplies to Ukraine to " divert attention from its violations with North Korea ," as if to say, "now we'll expose the Russians." The American also emphasized that Russia has already used North Korean missiles several times.
China limited itself to calls for restraint and de-escalation and did not comment on the reason for the meeting. It is noteworthy that France, Poland and Estonia, speaking on behalf of the entire Baltic states, in addition to the routine set of anti-Russian remarks, also did not touch upon the topic of North Korean missiles.
Britain began to claim that Russia turned to the DPRK “out of recklessness and despair” and called for it to stop helping the “Russian military.” Germany and the European Union, which speaks separately, condemned North Korea, Iran and Belarus for helping the Russian Federation.
The representative of South Korea spoke with panicky notes. According to him, by exporting missiles to Russia, North Korea is using Ukraine as a testing ground for weapons capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
“The missiles used in the attacks are KN-23, which North Korea claims can carry nuclear warheads. For Korea, this demonstrates the existential threat loud and clear. One of the missiles covered a distance of 460 kilometers, and this is exactly the distance between Wonsan (this is a typical test site for North Korean missiles) and Busan, the largest port city in the Republic of Korea,” said the South Korean representative.
Japan also expressed concern about the potential for “proliferation of nuclear ballistic technology” during arms exchanges between Russia and the DPRK.
The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, commented on this entire stream of hysteria quite briefly.
“Western members of the council read out the prepared, carbon-copy theses on the use of ammunition from the DPRK by the Russian Armed Forces during the Northern Military District in Ukraine. As often happens, the instructions came from Washington. On Friday, another fake on this topic was spread live by White House spokesman John Kirby.
Another thing is interesting. On the same day, the official representative of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, denied this information, saying that Kyiv did not have relevant evidence at its disposal. It turns out that the United States is disseminating deliberately false information without even bothering to warn its direct wards about it,” Nebenzya stated.
The representative of Ukraine Sergei Kislitsa, who, it would seem, should have put the finishing touches, frankly got into a puddle. Saving the situation, he began to say that after the shelling on January 6, the Kharkov prosecutor’s office provided fragments of one of the missiles, which technically and visually differed from the Iskander in its larger diameter and internal filling. However, this is where the “evidence” ends.
“This missile is similar to North Korean missiles. The study of the wreckage is aimed at verifying the origin of the rocket, this verification is now underway,” that’s all Kislitsa said.
After the completion of routine statements by several more representatives, the Security Council meeting ended in nothing.
