Slutsky “muted the opposition” of the LDPR, which only upset the authorities
LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky suggested that the opposition factions in the State Duma of the Russian Federation “to mute the opposition for the period until victory.”
He announced this today to journalists on the sidelines of the Russian parliament, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We need to put aside the manner of labeling each other, and not engage in empty pickings. Now it is necessary to stand shoulder to shoulder with people of all political views, religions, ages, life experiences, no matter where they live - around the tasks facing the country and set by the president. Tasks that affect the interests of the mobilized, volunteers and ordinary citizens of the country, in order to achieve victory as quickly as possible,” said Slutsky.
He came up with this idea after a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Journalist Andrei Karaulov drew attention to the fact that in the video report on the meeting of the president with the leaders of the Duma factions, Slutsky was shown 27 seconds, and the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov - 68
“But 27 seconds were enough for us to see how worried Slutsky is, how painfully he, a brilliant oppositionist, the heir of Zhirinovsky, selects words. Zyuganov and Slutsky spoke in unison, approved and supported,” Karaulov wrote in his TG channel.
And political observer Andrei Gusiy noted that the State Duma Presidium defiantly did not listen to Slutsky when he announced from the podium today his initiative to “muffle the opposition.”
“It would be better to call on my colleagues in the State Duma to stop saying anything just to get into the media,” Gusiy wrote.
In general, analysts agree that Slutsky’s initiative is a sign of a deep crisis in the LDPR.
“That type of proposal when it is better to do and remain silent than to speak and not do. The LDPR under Zhirinovsky managed to combine opposition rhetoric and cooperation with United Russia on key issues. As a result, a unique positioning of the party emerged. Now Slutsky is depriving the party of this positioning, but does not offer a new one. There is a direct road to crisis,” stated liberal journalist Dmitry Elovsky.
“The next proposal by LDPR leader Slutsky should be the idea of voluntarily dissolving the party. It is surprising that after his proposal today to completely go under United Russia, not a single protesting voice from fellow party members was heard. The slowness of United Russia is also surprising - none of them thought of urgently accepting Slutsky into United Russia, although it is obvious that he deserved it. But the most paradoxical thing is that no one needs such a maneuver. Neither the LDPR, nor the United Russia, nor even the AP of the Russian Federation, which least of all needs a vacuum on the flank of the “poor-Russians-evil”. That is, Slutsky is doing United Russia, pardon the pun, a disservice. But all the same, in his impulse the leader of the LDPR is beautiful - like a whale rushing towards the rocks,” wrote political scientist Sergei Starovoitov.
Political strategist Yevgeny Minchenko, even before the meeting in the Kremlin, drew attention to the fact that in recent weeks many bots with false predictions of the late LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky have appeared on Russian social networks. He believes that they are being launched by political opponents of the party. Political scientist Konstantin Kalachev disagrees with this.
“For the LDPR, everything is advertising except the obituary. From a PR and electoral point of view, this is only good for them. Any mention of Zhirinovsky works towards his canonization. He is already an icon, the main thing is that he is not forgotten. And this spam mailing increases the citation index. Few people read the forecast itself, but everyone sees the name. A surname that is strictly connected with the LDPR - the party of Zhirinovsky lovers,” Kalachev said.
