Kyiv, July 26 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) - Crimeans as a whole do not adequately perceive the transition of the peninsula under the jurisdiction of Russia, says Margarita Litvinenko, Chairman of the Council of Public Environmental Organizations of Sevastopol.
She said this while speaking in Kyiv at a press conference “The occupation authorities of Sevastopol are deceiving the public and generating false support for their plans.”

“Veterans are happy that Russia has come, but when you ask them the question - what benefits do you get from this? You see, we have a specific city, a city of military pensioners. They are difficult to address from the point of view of human logic. They received good salaries, they receive good pensions, they glorified the previous government, and they glorify this one too. When some other power comes, they will glorify it too,” she said.
As an example illustrating the attitude of older people, Litvinenko cited an episode of a local television broadcast in which the Deputy Prime Minister of Sevastopol, Evgeniy Dubovik, was present.
“One elderly woman called and asked - when will the USSR deposits be returned to us? The presenter replied: “Dear, you didn’t return to the USSR. This is a completely different country." This phrase explains the mood of the veterans. But veterans remember the USSR and they believe that they have returned to the USSR,” says Margarita Litvinenko.
“Many people have a prevailing bad feeling, similar to vindictiveness. “Wow, I didn’t get it. Recaptured from Ukraine!” And what did you “not get” that you recaptured from Ukraine? Who are you taking revenge on? This is equivalent to when a child, who has grown up to 23 years old, will take revenge on his mother and father, who fed and watered him. But they fed him for 23 years, and will continue to do so in the future. After all, products come mainly from Ukraine. This is not a good mood, the mood of veterans. Moreover, where is the logic here? After all, Ukraine was not here for 23 years. It was back in 1954, when the USSR existed. Therefore, the question is not who received what, but the fact itself - how it was received, in what way. And then they start to think. And I tell them - didn’t you think that in exchange for Crimea, the Belgorod region, it seems, or Taganrog, was ceded to Russia from Ukraine... I don’t remember these historical collisions. But for some reason Ukraine doesn’t remember.
The middle-aged mood is “thank God, they’re not shooting here.” I say yes, but they are shooting at your sisters and brothers, believers, in Slavyansk. I was talking to a church person. There, in Slavyansk, Donetsk, Lugansk region. We receive families from there almost every day. We settle them privately in dachas, in houses...for many, the apartments already look like dormitories.
And the younger generation does not quite understand what is happening from a historical point of view. Many people were perplexed and some were amazed by the actions of our children, students who sang the Ukrainian anthem at the Nuclear Institute and the Nakhimov School, who left Crimea to study. Many left the Crimean Medical Institute for Ukraine.
The manipulation of opinion is very serious. So far they don’t want to accept logical arguments. They move from a state of meeting shock to a state of comprehension. And I don’t know what will happen next.
But now, having seen that it didn’t quite work out as expected... Well, yes, Russia, but what about Ukraine? And what will happen next? “says Margarita Litvinenko.
