In Sevastopol, they are preparing to try an ex-deputy of the Legislative Assembly, accused of fraud.

Sevastopol, November 24 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – In Sevastopol, the investigative authorities have completed a criminal investigation against a former deputy of the city Legislative Assembly, accused of five counts of fraud committed causing significant damage to citizens (Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and in fraud committed on a large scale (Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The first criminal case against the then-current deputy of the city Legislative Assembly in connection with his special status was initiated personally by the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Sevastopol on July 22.

According to the investigation, in February 2013, the people's representative, who at that time was a deputy of the Sevastopol City Council of the VI convocation and a member of the City Council commission on environmental protection and environmental safety, was approached by an entrepreneur with a request to assist in the preparation of documents for the placement of trade pavilions in Gagarinsky area. The deputy promised to provide assistance to the businessman for the sum of $10 thousand, while he had no real opportunity to influence the decision of officials of the Gagarinsky district administration. In November and March 2013, the people's representative received the required amount from the entrepreneur through an intermediary.

As part of the investigation of this criminal case, the investigation established five more episodes of criminal activity of the deputy under similar circumstances. The total amount of money obtained from citizens through criminal means was just over 1 million rubles.

The investigation has collected a sufficient evidence base, and therefore the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor for approval of the indictment and further referral to court.
